Dr. Mark Hartman
Senior Pastor

Pastor Mark became the Senior Pastor of Sugar Creek Baptist Church in November, 2002.  He has pastored for over 30 years. Brother Mark loves the Bible because he knows it has the power to guide anyone through any situation they may face.  He has come to share with us what God has shown us in His Word, love our members, guide the staff, and provide leadership in all areas of our church's life.

Dr. Hartman received his Masters and Doctorate degree at Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worh, TX.

He loves every kind of sports and has been found with a fishing pole in his hands from time-to-time.  His favorite teams include the Houston Astros in the NL and the Texas Rangers in the AL.  Pastor Mark is a new fan of the Houston Texans, a long time fan of the Dallas Cowboys and a loyal follower of the University of Oklahoma Sooners.  He enjoys working out and reading.  He is especially interested in the annals of World War II, loves the soothing sound of ocean waves and wishes he could hit a golf ball straight.  His least favorite food is okra in any form!

He has been married to his beautiful wife, Kathy, over 30 years. They have two sons: Matthew, who is married to the former Shara Thompson, and Jonathan, a student at Texas A&M University. The new prides of his life are Jude Stephen and Emily Lynn Hartman, children of Matthew and Shara.
