Life is a merry-go-round at Sugar Creek. There’s a place, a time and event for everyone. Sweet Life Comedy Theatre was just one of those occasions where you could leave your cares behind. As a volunteer or guest, it’s always a win-win situation at Sugar Creek. This year’s comedy guest was Scott Davis his humor and honesty put us at ease; what a wonderful sail into the weekend. Not only was the humor way above average, but 18 people made decisions for Christ as well. Who would have guessed?

Our volunteers played a huge part in creating a sweet environment, behind the scenes was a comedy show in itself. For those volunteers on coffee duty for 300 guest, brewing a cup at a time was not working, what a pending disaster, no coffee. Yet to the rescue our super hero James Ross ingeniously rigged old Iron Side (our coffee brewer) to maximum speed which brought the pending coffee drama to a halt. Whew! That was close…desserts without coffee would have caused a riot. Little did the rest of our volunteers know our dilemma? Their chores of slicing and serving homemade treats kept them in a deep trance in hopes that one of these morsels would fall into their hands.
At the end of the night as we finished our chores we rushed to the gym to catch a few words from our guest speaker only to find out we missed it all. Not to be discouraged there was still the promise of one of those delicious homemade treats. As we rushed pass our guest three nights of baking desserts for 400 guests gone! Our awesome leader and creator of all these wonderful desserts Mrs. Becky Troutman stared in wonder….Alas the life of a volunteer is not easy but we push on and so we relaxed at the end of the night and enjoyed cups and cups of coffee, what a Sweet Life!
