INTRODUCTION

A. Acts 2:1-4  On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. 2 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. 3 Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. 4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. (NLT2)

B. Acts 2:41 Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all. (NLT)

1. YOU MUST SEE JESUS AS SAVIOR AND LORD.

A. Acts 2:22  Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know.  (NIV)

B. Acts 2:23  This man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.

C. In the Book of Romans there is a logical progression of understanding:

1. Romans 3:23  …for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,… (NKJV)

2. Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  (NKJV)

3. Romans 5:8  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  (NKJV)

D. Acts 2:24  But God raised Him from the dead, freeing Him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on Him.

E. Acts 2:32-33  God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact.  33 Exalted to the right hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.

F. Put all of this together.  God has made His Son, Jesus, both Savior and Lord.

2. YOU MUST OWN YOUR CULPABILITY IN THE CRUCIFIXION OF JESUS.

Acts 2:37  When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”

3. YOU MUST REPENT AND TURN TO GOD.

A. Acts 2:38  Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins, turn to God…”

B. Romans 10:9-10  If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.  (NLT)

4. YOU MUST DECLARE BY BAPTISM THAT YOU BELONG TO JESUS.

Acts 2:38  Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins, turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ to show that you have received forgiveness for your sins.
