O holy night the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth

1. Christmas is Historical

Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth

A. Jesus Fulfills Prophecy

  • Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah now,

out of you will come for me, one who will be ruler over Israel.

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming
With glowing hearts by his cradle we stand

2. Christmas is Personal

  • Luke 2:10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”
  • Luke 2:11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming
Here come the Wise Men from Orient land

  • Matthew 2:1-2 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of parade, the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship.”

The King of kings lay thus in lowly manger
In all our trials born to be our friend

Truly he taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is Peace

3. Christmas is Transformational

  • John 13:34 A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother

For the slave is our brother
And in his name all oppression shall cease

Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we
Let all within us praise His holy name
