INTRODUCTION
Ephesians 4:32-5:2  Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.  1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;  2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. (NASB)

1. WE ARE TO IMITATE GOD IN THE WAY WE FORGIVE OTHERS.  (Ephesians 4:32)

A. Ephesians 4:32  Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

B. The inability to forgive is a sign of weakness; the ability to forgive is a sign of power.

“Everyone says forgiveness is a wonderful idea until they have something to forgive.”  (C.S. Lewis)

2. WE ARE TO IMITATE GOD BY GIVING OURSELVES AWAY FOR OTHERS.  (Ephesians 5:1-2)

A. Ephesians 5:1-2  Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;  2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

B. Matthew 20:28  … the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.  (NASB)

C. Matthew 20:25-27  But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them.  26 But among you it will be different.  Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave.”  (NLT2)

D. Colossians 3:23-24  Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.  (NLT)
