INTRODUCTION

When we come to the end of ourselves it just means we have come to the beginning of God.

Joshua 1:2-5  Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them–to the Israelites.  3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.  4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates–all the Hittite country–to the Great Sea on the west.   5 No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

1. GOD PROMISES TO PROVIDE OUR NEEDS.  (Joshua 1:2-4)

A. Joshua 1:3  I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.

B. God said that if they obeyed Him, He would make sure they had all they needed.

C. Getting a promise from God and meeting the condition to the promise is the key to your provision.

D. Faith is not presumption; it is not walking on thin ice; it is not going out on a limb; it is not doing something crazy; it is not wishful thinking, or even positive thinking.  Faith is obeying the condition to the promise God has made to you.

E. Luke 6:38  Give, and it will be given to you.  A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.  For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

F. Philippians 4:19  And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (NKJV)

2. GOD PROMISES TO PROVIDE THE STRENGTH TO WITHSTAND ANY ATTACK UPON YOUR LIFE.  (Joshua 1:5; 9)

A. Joshua 1:5, 9  No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life.  As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.  9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.  (NIV)

B. Joshua 5:13-15  Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and  saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand.  Joshua went up to him and asked, ‘Are you for us or for our enemies?’   14 ‘Neither,’ he replied, ‘but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.’  Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, ‘What message does my Lord have for his servant?’ 15 The commander of the LORD’s army replied, ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.’  And Joshua did so. (NIV)

C. No matter what causes you to be at the end of your rope, you will not be there by yourself.  He will be your strength.

D. Isaiah 54:17  ‘No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.  This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,’ declares the LORD. (NIV)

E. Psalm 68:1  Let God arise.  Let His enemies be scattered…   (NKJV)

F. Hebrews 13:5  …God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ (NIV)

3. GOD PROMISES SUCCESS IN OUR LIVES DIRECTLY TIED TO HIS WORD.

A. Joshua 1:7-8  Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.  8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

B. Joshua 1:8  This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

C. Spend time every day being still before God.   Psalm 46:10  Be still, and know that I am God;

D. ask the Lord to help you and begin looking for direction from Him out of His Word.

E. wait on God.

Isaiah 40:31  But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
