Mission & Beliefs

Our Mission

God has a mission and purpose for Sugar Creek just as He has a plan and a purpose for each of our lives. God brought that mission to light for us in the form of a guiding statement that focuses our vision and directs our steps. Everything our church plans and does revolves around that mission:

To Love and Lead All People
To Life Change in Christ

Core Values

Sugar Creek is a Southern Baptist Church and a summary of our beliefs about God and His word can be found at the button below. The way we carry out our ministry is expressed by a set of six core values. These values guide our planning and decision making on a daily basis. They help us separate great choices from good choices.

Life Change

Spiritual life change is an ongoing journey on which we grow and learn to be more like Jesus. He made a promise of a changed life to everyone who makes the commitment to follow Him: different, better, and more fulfilling than life could possibly be without Him.

We have identified six areas of spiritual development which we call Life Change Indicators. The Bible teaches that a follower of Jesus continues to experience life change in these areas which we identify using the acronym CHANGE:

  • Commits to God and His Family

  • Helps Others Know God

  • Actively Practices Spiritual Disciplines

  • Nurtures Authentic Relationships

  • Gives Back To God

  • Exercises Spiritual Gifts in Service

Our online assessment tool helps you identify your spiritual growth in these six key areas. You’ll immediately receive an email with your results with links to resources to help you take the next steps in your journey of life change in Christ.

Our Strategy

Biblical life change occurs as we commit to four key areas of spiritual development. These are: Worship, Connect, Serve, and Share. You’ll see these symbols below in various places throughout Sugar Creek. Watch this short video explaining each aspect of our discipleship strategy.

Worship is about how we express our love for God in our praise and adoration. When we come together to worship God each week, He wants us to be real with Him and not pretend we’re perfect for everyone else.

God created all of us to grow spiritually in community with one another. Engaging in small groups enables authentic community where you can make life-long friends and explore the Bible together in a fun, supportive environment.

God calls each one of us to a life of meaning and purpose. He created us to serve Him and one another… to put the needs of others before our own. God gives each one of us unique talents and natural abilities to serve and He intends for every believer to get involved.

When we love and care for others that God has placed in our path, God opens their heart and gives us an opportunity to share the story of Jesus. We provide easy tools you can use to share Christ and even attend one of our many mission trips locally and around the world.
