Open Door logoA Ministry to Those with Special Needs

The OPEN DOOR is our ministry to children with special needs. The Open Door seeks to minister to both children and parents. With over 6,000 children registered in special needs programs through our local school districts, we know the challenges of many parents around us are more than they can bear alone. We come alongside parents and hope to help them meet the demands of raising a child who is differently-abled.

Loving volunteers are present each Sunday morning to meet the requirements for special needs care. Fully-equipped classrooms provide an environment for learning and exploration each Sunday morning in The Open Door. In addition, the third Friday evening of each month is Break Out, offering respite care and fun for these children.

The Open Door is always in need of additional volunteers. If you would like to explore the volunteer opportunities in The Open Door, please contact Barbara Waldhuber.  Currently, the special needs ministry provides care every Sunday morning, and through the following Open Door activities:

    • Vacation Bible School for Special Needs
    • Break-Out: Friday night respite care (3rd Friday each month)
