1 Samuel 15:22  But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord:  your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.”

God Uses Your Obedience to Build You!

  • EVERY test is an opportunity to be built

Five Things Built By Obedience

Genesis 22:1-2  Some time later, God tested Abraham’s faith. “Abraham!” God called.

“Yes,” he replied. “Here I am.“Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.”

1. Humility (Genesis 22:1)

Obedience reminds us that we are not in control.

2. Calling (Genesis 22:2)

We want the final destination but God often gives the next-step.

3. Family (Genesis 22:7)

Obedience demonstrates to our children that God is worth following.

Genesis 22:7  “Isaac turned to Abraham and said, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “We have the fire and the wood,” the boy said, “but where is the sheep for the burnt offering?

4. Kingdom

God’s plan is bigger than you.

5. Faith (Genesis 22:1)

Hebrews 11: 8, 17-19  It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. 17 It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, 18 even though God had told him, “Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.” 19 Abraham reasoned that if Isaac died, God was able to bring him back to life again. And in a sense, Abraham did receive his son back from the dead.

Faith is Built Brick by Brick.
