Matthew 19:8-10  Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”  10 The disciples said to him, “If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry.”

1 Corinthians 7:28 “But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.”

1 Corinthians 38-40 “So then, he who marries the virgin does right, but he who does not marry her does better. 39 A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord. 40 In my judgment, she is happier if she stays as she is—and I think that I too have the Spirit of God.”

Proverbs 18:22 “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.”…

Proverbs 21:9 “Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.”

Proverbs 19:14 “Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.”…

Proverbs 21:19 “Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and nagging wife.”

Proverbs 31:10 “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.”

Proverbs 27:15-16 “A quarrelsome wife is like the dripping of a leaky roof in a rainstorm; 16 restraining her is like restraining the wind or grasping oil with the hand.”

THREE TRUTHS ABOUT MARRIAGE & THREE TIPS TO MANAGE THEM

TRUTH #1: MARRIAGE IS A COMMITMENT TO UNRESOLVABLE ISSUES

Tip #1: Close the gap

TRUTH #2: MARRIAGE IS A GRIEVING PROCESS

Tip #2: Manage Disappointments

Proverbs 13:12 “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.”

TRUTH #3: MARRIAGE IS A FRONT ROW SEAT TO YOUR SPOUSE’S SANCTIFICATION PROCESS

Tip #3: Carry their Burden and Own Your Load

Galatians 6: 2-5 “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load.”
