Part 3 – For Those Not Yet Here
Psalm 102:18-22

September 30, 2018
Dr. Mark S. Hartman, Lead Pastor

INTRODUCTION

The Sugar Land Campus is focused on 3 goals that will shape our future:

1. To pay off the remaining $2.6mm owed on the Missouri City campus so our church can be debt free again.

2. To raise $2.4mm to build-out a storefront facility for the launch of our third campus in Richmond / Rosenberg.

3. To raise $700,000 for our yearly missions month offering.

In total, we are asking our members to pledge $5.7mm to be given over the next 2 years for these three projects.  We are asking that these gifts be over and above our tithe to our church’s budget.

Psalm 102: 18-22

18 Let this be written for a future generation,

that a people not yet created may praise the LORD:

19 The LORD looked down from His sanctuary on high,

from heaven He viewed the earth,

20 to hear the groans of the prisoners

and release those condemned to death.

21 So the name of the LORD will be declared in Zion

and His praise in Jerusalem

22 when the peoples and the kingdoms

assemble to worship the LORD. (NIV)

1. WE INVEST OUR LIFE IN MAKING A DIFFERENCE  FOR THE FUTURE.

A. Psalm 102:18a  Let this be written for a future generation…

B. To touch the future we have to respond in life with faith.

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.  (NASB)

“Your faith in God’s promise to you has just guaranteed you that you will receive it.”

C. Today, in the commitments we are making, we are writing in ink an eternal investment for a future generation!

2. WE HAVE A PASSION FOR THE “UNREACHED” WHO ARE NOT YET CHRIST FOLLOWERS.

A. Psalm 102:18  Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord:

B. Matthew 18:12  What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?

C. In the midst of the crowd, God never forgets about the one who does not know Him.

D. Today, we are recommitting ourselves to reach those still unreached.  We are joining with God in His pursuit of the “one.”

E. 42% of the families in the Richmond/Rosenberg area are families with young children.

F. A recent study showed that nearly 57,000 people in Richmond/Rosenberg are not connected to a church.

3. WE JOIN WITH GOD IN RESCUING THOSE WHO ARE NOT FREE.

A. Psalm 102:19-20  The Lord looked down from His sanctuary on high, from heaven He viewed the earth, 20 to hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death.

B. 1 Peter 1:18-19  For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors.  And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value.  19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.  (NLT)

C. Because we have been rescued, it is now our turn to be a part of God’s rescue mission!

Action Steps for this week. . .

  • I will pray for someone I know who does not know Jesus as Savior.
  • I will invite someone to attend Sugar Creek next Sunday.
  • Next Sunday I will be present at the beginning of our new series, “The Invisible War.”
