A RENEWED VISION OF WHO WE ARE

(Isaiah 41:14-20)

Dr. Mark S. Hartman, Lead Pastor SCBC

INTRODUCTION

A. Hebrews 11:6  Without faith it is impossible to please God.

God only empowers a church when it is trusting Him to do what it cannot do by itself.

B. Luke 19:10  For the Son of Man has come to seek and save those who are lost.

C. John 20:21  As the Father has sent me, I am now sending you.

D. Guess what?  When we do what God has called us to do in reaching others for Christ, it is the highest form of worship and praise to Him!

E. Isaiah 41:10-13  Do not be afraid; for I am with you:  do not be not dismayed; for I am your God:  I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with My righteousness right hand.  Everyone who is incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded:  they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with you shall perish.  You shall seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that have contended with you: those who war against you shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.  For I the Lord your God will hold you right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help you.

F. Isaiah 41:14-20  “Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob, O little Israel, for I Myself will help you,” declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.   15 “See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them, and reduce the hills to chaff.   16  You will winnow them, the wind will pick them up, and a gale will blow them away.  But you will rejoice in the LORD and glory in the Holy One of Israel.  17  The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.   18  I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.  19  I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive trees. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together, 20  so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.”

2. God’s vision is about reaching people who need Him.

4. SEE WHAT IS REQUIRED OF US.

Action Steps I will take this week…

  • I will go to the Next Step Center to speak to a minister about how I can know Jesus as my Savior.
  • I want God to use me to help reach people in this region for Christ.
  • I want my life to bring Glory to the Lord!
