A church that prioritizes God’s mission is unstoppable.
1. Jesus focused on fulfilling His role in God’s unstoppable mission.
Matthew 16:13-16 – Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Luke 19:10 - For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
Mark 10:45 - For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
A. Jesus is the Son of God who lived, died, and rose again to fulfill His role in God’s Unstoppable Mission.
2. Jesus established the Church to advance God’s unstoppable mission.
Matthew 16:17-18 - And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Acts 2:47b - And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
A. A healthy church understands that its mission is God’s mission.
Matthew 28:19-20 - Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
3. Jesus calls you to fulfill your role in God’s unstoppable mission.
Matthew 16:19-20 - I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” 20 Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.
Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
A. You have an essential role to play in God’s unstoppable mission.
