1. GOD SOMETIMES DELAYS TO BETTER MEET OUR NEEDS.
A. John 11:3-6 So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.” 4 When He heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” 5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So when He heard that Lazarus was sick, He stayed where He was two more days.
B. Jesus’ delay was not evidence of less love. It was evidence of greater love.
- C. John 11:9-10 Jesus replied, “There are twelve hours of daylight every day. During the day people can walk safely. They can see because they have the light of this world. 10 But at night there is danger of stumbling because they have no light.”
My Heavenly Father has a clock for My life. I am going to make the most of the time I have.
- D. Matthew 11:28-29 Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke on you and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
2. JESUS IS OUR RESURRECTION AND OUR LIFE.
- A. John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I AM the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.”
B. “Jesus was not just a good moral teacher because He didn’t leave us with that option. Because of His claims either he was a Liar, a Lunatic, or Lord.” (C.S. Lewis)
C. If you are born once - you will die twice. If you are born twice - you will die only once.
- D. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
- E. John 11:38-40 “Roll the stone aside,” Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.” 40 Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you will see God’s glory if you believe?”
- F. John 11:44 Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”
