Part 7 | FAITHFULNESS: The Habit That Earns Respect

- Proverbs 20:6 Most men will proclaim to everyone his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
- Galatians 5:22-23 But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, He will produce this kind of fruit (results) in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. (NLT)
Faith speaks of what we believe; faithfulness speaks of how much we actually believe it.
1. SET THE GOAL OF FAITHFULNESS IN YOUR RELATIONSHIPS.
Faithfulness produces a High Trust – low fear relationship.
2. KEYS TO DEVELOPING FAITHFULNESS.
A. Decide who you belong to.
- 1 Corinthians 4:1 So then, others ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God.
B. Recognize you are accountable to God.
- 1 Corinthians 4:2 Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. (NIV)
C. Choose to live for God consistently day by day.
1. It isn't how high you jump that matters but how straight you walk once you hit the ground.
2. Psalm 119:9, 11 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your word. 11 I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You. (NIV)
D. Honor the marriage vows you made before God and others.
- Hebrews 13:4 Husbands and wives must be faithful to each other. God will judge those who are immoral and commit adultery.
4 ways to re-engage from “quiet quitting” in your marriage:
1. Make small active gestures instead of grand ones.
2. Become more intentional about spending quality time together.
3. Communicate positively – focus on the positives instead of the negatives. If you focus on the negatives you will fight. If you focus on the positives, you will appreciate each other.
4. Flirt and date each other again.
E. Make the decision to give your best to your job or schoolwork as God has told you to do.
1. Ephesians 6:7 Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
2. God will reward your faithfulness to Him in your school and career.
- Ephesians 6:8 Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do…(NLT)
F. Be willing to admit wrong and correct your mistakes.
- 1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins to God, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. (NLT)
